It’s easy to lead yourself to believe that Snapchat is too much of a difficult social media platform to tap into if you are a business… Unworthy of your time and effort trying to use it to market your brand, right?
If you’re not on Snapchat right now you should be aware that it has around 100 million daily active users, and more than 25% of UK smartphone users are on it. Time to jump on the bandwagon.

Taco Bell always stick by their witty tone, which does them well on Snapchat. Here’s an idea they come up with for valentine’s day, where they created their own online valentine’s cards. Something like this is sure to rake in the screenshots, and is guaranteed to be shared across other social media platforms.

A great way to use Snapchat for your business is to promote competitions etc. Create content that encourages your users to interact and take action, and cross-promote these across your other social media platforms.
WWF effectively created saddening posts and used the power of emotion to do so well in this campaign. Combined with the temporary theme Snapchat has with stories lasting a limited amount of time, posts were crafted perfectly.
McDonald’s took the simple yet effective route with one of their Snapchat campaigns, which still gained them thousands of followers. Having a big announcement can cause a flood of people adding you as a friend on Snapchat, so save some of the good stuff!
McDonald’s have also used celebrity endorsement to their advantage within some of their Snapchat campaigns. Using a celebrity to keep an ongoing story is also a great way of keeping people eager.
Of course of little inspiration never hurts, but the key in promoting your business through Snapchat is to be CREATIVE – Which doesn’t mean producing a regurgitated copy of Taco Bell’s valentines cards. Find out what it is about your business that sets you apart from the rest, and ask yourself – why do they care? Play on those strengths! Knowing your audience is key, as well as establishing a tone that you keep throughout your marketing efforts. Consistency will keep them loyal, and creativity will keep them coming.
